Heritage International (HI) is a faith based humanitarian, relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with individuals and families of poor communities of nations to reach their full potential by tackling the underlying causes of poverty and injustice so that people can become self-sufficient and be able to choose and define their own destinies. Our Mission

Our mission is to serve individuals and families in the poorest communities in the world. Recognizing that women, young adults and children suffer disproportionately from poverty, Heritage International places special emphasis on working with them to create permanent social change. They are therefore the heart of our community-based programs to improve basic education, prevent the spread of diseases, increase access to clean water and sanitation, expand economic opportunity and protect natural resources. Drawing strength from our global diversity, resources and experience, we promote innovative solutions and are advocates for global responsibility. Our Capacity Building and Youth Empowerment programmes are geared towards identifying providing relevant human resources for community development. Guided by the aspirations of local communities, we seek to pursue our mission with both excellence and compassion. We facilitate lasting change by:

• Helping provide the necessary resources for Education, Health and future development of children and youth
• Strengthening capacity for self-help
• Providing economic opportunity for members of the community
• Delivering relief in emergencies

What we do:
Through experience, planning and careful research, we identify areas where change can be made through a little sacrifice and great vision. We visit these areas and assess the local needs and we work with the people and other volunteers to build a more sustainable life and future, by providing necessary skills training, education and the required facilities. Thus helping them to help themselves.

Resources– In working and communicating with those in need or leaders of communities and partnering with like minded organizations, Heritage International desires to customize programs and provide the resources to help whole communities and individuals to grow and become more self sustaining.

How we do it:
Our efforts include raising funds through donations, gifts from individuals, contribution from members and organisations and working with governmental and non-governmental development agencies, which are then carefully distributed where the needs are most urgent. We also have a program called Heritage where individuals can visit a project and donate their time and talents in several ways for example, by teaching the local children, helping with a building project or giving consultancy service to locals in the area of medicine, buisness, agriculture etc.

In 2002 Heritage International started drilling wells in rural communities. This caused infant mortality to drop. Farming equipments were distributed to farmers together with high yielding seeds of crops they were engaged in producing and materials for local food processing by women was provided. This enabled them increase productivity and thus enhancing household income. Since 2002 Heritage Misions in collaboration with our country partners have embarked on health campaigns by providing medical services in the form of free medical treatments and advices to rural communities. Lectures in income generation, irrigation practices and better health care has been provided to rural communities over the years.
